34-mile charity walk for Dementia UK
On 14th August 2026 4 members of the ADM team took part in a 34-mile walk supporting Dementia UK.
Andy Martin, ADMs Production Manager’s mum recently has been diagnosed with the condition. Andy commented: “We wanted to take some bad news and turn it into something positive and do something we can look back on in the years to come and be proud of what we achieved.”
The 4 pint challenge walk was inspired by the 3 peaks challenged but with a Geordie twist. Starting at Central Station Newcastle, getting the train to Haltwhistle and then walking back to Newcastle, finishing in Newburn in under 12 hours.
The guys managed an average speed of 3.1mph which included stopping at 3 pubs along the way at Hexham, Corbridge and Wylam for a refreshing pint, completing the walking in just over 11 hours and racking up over 72,000 steps each before enjoying the final pint at the finish where they were welcomed by family and friends.
Scott Maddison, Commercial Manager, commented: “It was a great day, tough but made a lot easier by being surrounded by a great group of people all wanting to do something good for a worthy cause. The amount of people we passed along the way that donated and cheered us on was really unexpected and very humbling. A great day.”
The team have already raised more than £2,500 but would love to get that total even higher – please donate generously to this worthy charity helping people living with dementia: https://www.justgiving.com/page/andy-martin-1.
